Strength training

Some days you should push. STRAXE knows which ones.

Your watch already measures how well you slept and how recovered you are. STRAXE is the training app that actually reads it — then builds you a session that fits the body you woke up in, and logs every set of it.

The problem

Why your gym progress stalls

Almost every training app treats you as if you're the same person every day. Monday's plan gets written weeks in advance and doesn't care that you slept five hours, flew home late, or are fighting something off. So you either grind through a heavy session you had no business attempting, or you skip it and lose the thread entirely.

Progress isn't made in the session. It's made in the recovery afterwards. Train hard on a body that hasn't recovered and you're accumulating fatigue instead of strength — the lifts flatten out, the motivation goes, and nothing in the app tells you why.

The information that would explain it is already on your wrist. Nothing was using it.

What it does

How STRAXE plans your training around recovery

One score decides the day. Everything else is the log book you'd want anyway.

A readiness score that changes the workout

STRAXE reads the sleep and heart rate variability your watch or ring already writes to Apple Health, and measures them against your rolling baseline — not a chart of what a 30-year-old should hit.

The result is the first thing on screen, in plain language: "64% recovered · Moderate effort", with the reason underneath — "HRV well below your baseline (16 ms vs 39 avg)." The headline changes with it, from Primed to push down through Ready to train and Train controlled to Recover & reload.

Tap Smart Workout and it builds the session at that intensity. A 91 and a 43 do not get the same Tuesday.

500 exercises, narrowed to the gym you're standing in

A library is only useful if you can get to the right movement in seconds between sets. Search across 500 exercises, or filter by muscle, equipment and category — and tag what your gym actually has, so My Gym hides every lift you can't do today.

  • Every exercise carries its muscle groups, so volume adds up correctly
  • Add your own movements when the library doesn't have one
  • Build routines once and reuse them, or start from a template

Know whether the number is actually good

"185 for five" means nothing on its own. STRAXE works out your estimated one-rep max from the sets you logged and places it on a scale built for someone your bodyweight — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Elite — then tells you exactly how far the next tier is.

A strongest lift of 166.7 lbs comes back as Silver, top 51%, with 31.3 lbs to Gold. That's a target you can train towards, which "you lifted more than last time" never was.

Try it without installing anything. Our free strength standards calculator runs this exact scale — all 37 lifts, Bronze to Elite — in your browser.

Log from your wrist, and let the rest time itself

The Apple Watch app logs sets without you touching your phone, and there's a complication so the workout is one tap from your face. Between sets, the rest timer runs as a Live Activity — on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with the current exercise next to it.

Progress covers four views: Summary, Strength, Muscles and Body — all-time PRs, per-muscle volume, bodyweight trend, measurements and progress photos, and how your recovery and sleep have moved over time.

Fair questions

Can an app really tell you how hard to train?

Only if it admits when it can't. Leave the watch on the charger and STRAXE doesn't invent a number — it says "No recent recovery data" and "Wear your Apple Watch tonight to score today's readiness." No wearable at all, and it tells you straight that readiness "needs a watch or ring's sleep & HRV". Everything else still works; that one feature waits for real data.

The strength tiers are honest in the same way. They come from published bodyweight-ratio benchmarks, and the app says so on the screen itself: "Tiers and targets use ExRx / Symmetric Strength bodyweight-ratio standards, not a live user database." You're being measured against an established scale, not a leaderboard of strangers with something to prove.

There's a "How STRAXE works" screen for the rest of it, because a score you can't interrogate is a score you'll stop believing.

STRAXE provides general fitness guidance for educational purposes. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for a qualified physician or healthcare provider. Consult a doctor before starting any new exercise program, and stop if anything feels wrong.

Optional

A training community you have to opt into

Off by default, and the app is complete without it. Turn it on and you get a feed, friends, crews with their own chat, challenges, and a pound-for-pound leaderboard that ranks by strength relative to bodyweight rather than raw load. Blocking and reporting are built in from the start.

There's a levelling layer too — XP for sessions logged, streaks, and up to three streak shields to spend on the weeks life gets in the way. It's there to get you through month two, which is where most training apps lose people.
