Privacy Policy

TailDose is made by Verntro Labs, LLC ("Verntro Labs", "we", "us"), the party responsible for the data described here. TailDose is built to be private by default. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles, where it lives, and the choices you have.

Data that stays on your device

Everything you enter to track your pets — pet profiles and photos, medications, schedules, dose history, and notes — is stored on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, iOS also syncs this data to your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit so your devices stay in sync. That iCloud copy is controlled by your Apple account; Verntro Labs cannot access it.

No account is required to use TailDose, and in normal (non-sharing) use, none of your data is ever sent to our servers.

Data we store if you use caregiver sharing

Caregiver sharing (inviting family or a sitter to help care for a pet) is optional and requires signing in with Apple. If you use it, we store the following on our server (hosted by Supabase) so your caregivers can see and update the shared pet:

• Account information: a random account identifier, the email address provided through Sign in with Apple (which may be Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide your email), and the display name shown to caregivers (taken from Sign in with Apple the first time you sign in, and editable in Settings → Your name).
• Shared pet profile: for each pet you share (and only those pets) — its name, species, photo, breed, sex, whether it is spayed or neutered, its birthday and "gotcha" date, and its microchip number, where you have entered them.
• Medications and dose history: each medication's name, dosage, type, schedule and start/end dates, supply and refill settings, and every dose record — when it was due, when it was logged, whether it was given, skipped or missed, any note you added, and which caregiver logged it.
• Health records: weight entries and vaccination records for the shared pet, including dates, clinic, notes, and who recorded them.
• Sharing records: invite links you create, the list of caregivers who joined, and the permission level you gave each caregiver (log doses only, or also edit medications).

Pets you do not share are never uploaded to our server. Scanned documents and photos you save in the Documents tab always stay on your device and in your own iCloud — they are never uploaded to our server, even for a shared pet.

What we don't do

• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes.
• We do not use your data for advertising, and the app contains no third-party ad or analytics trackers.
• We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
• We do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because we do not track users in the first place.

Information Apple provides to us

As the app's developer, Apple makes limited aggregated and anonymized reporting available to us through App Store Connect. This is the only information about your use of the app that reaches us, and we want to be plain about it. It may include:

• Sales and download reports — aggregate counts of downloads and purchases by territory and date. These do not identify individual users.
• Aggregate app analytics — statistics such as impressions, downloads, sessions and retention. Apple provides these only in aggregated, anonymized form, and only for users who have consented to share analytics with developers in iOS Settings.
• Crash and diagnostic reports — shared with us only if you have opted in to "Share With App Developers" under iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. These describe technical conditions such as where the app stopped working. They do not identify you and they do not contain your pets' records, medications, or dose history.

We use this solely to understand overall usage and to fix bugs. We cannot use it to identify you, and we do not attempt to. You can stop sharing analytics and crash data at any time in iOS Settings.

Purchases

TailDose Pro subscriptions and purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment information.

Notifications

Dose reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They are not sent through our servers.

Service providers

• Apple — iCloud/CloudKit sync of your on-device data, Sign in with Apple, and App Store purchases, under Apple's own privacy terms.
• Supabase — hosting for the caregiver-sharing service described above, in data centers in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest and is processed only to provide the sharing feature.

Data retention and deletion

Shared data remains on our server only while you keep a sharing account. You can delete everything at any time, directly in the app:

• Settings → Delete account permanently deletes your sharing account and all data stored on our server for pets you own, immediately (or as soon as your device next connects to the internet, if you were offline when you tapped it). Your own pets remain on your device. If you recorded doses, weights or vaccinations for a pet that someone else owns, those entries stay in that pet’s history so its record remains complete, but your name is removed from them.
• Settings → Reset all data additionally erases everything on your device and in your iCloud.
• Stopping the sharing of a pet removes that pet's data from our server.
• When a medication or dose is deleted from a shared pet, a short deletion marker stays on the server so every caregiver’s device removes it too; it is removed with the pet when sharing stops or the account is deleted.

Security

Server data is protected with row-level security so each person can only access pets they own or were invited to, and all connections use encryption in transit (TLS).

Children

TailDose is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
